About us

The Concord Presbyterian Church and the North Washington United Presbyterian Church are member churches of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and of Beaver-Butler Presbytery

Our calling lies with the two greatest commandments. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We add to this the task Jesus gave to Peter “feed my sheep”. In obedience to God we form our mission statement; “To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.”

We are to reach out in God’s love to all people, but in reality this is where we encounter substantial stumbling blocks. Statistics from Mission Insight are alarming. They show that 48% of our community’s population consider themselves to be spiritual, yet less than 20% consider attending worship to be important or necessary to their faith. We, as individuals, cannot grow in our faith apart from a community of believers. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Faith and our relationship with God does not begin or end on Sundays, but is something that we live throughout the week. We are called to help people come to know God, yet how are we to go about doing this? Our society has become over-committed. The “things of this world” are taking away substantial amounts of our time. Other activities take precedent over our worship of God. We must continue to pray as a congregation and seek God’s guidance. Our efforts must be focused on sharing God’s love with all people of all ages and we must continue to “feed God’s sheep”.
